Rough and Ready Aviation
kits are easy to assemble, easy to fly, realistic in the air and designed to
use the latest in brushless motor, Lithium polymer battery and micro
electronic technology for the utmost in flight performance. Because of the
very low flying weights, between 3.5 to 4 ounces for the racers and between
5 to 6 ounces for the biplanes they can be flown indoors as well as smaller
outdoor sites. The neighborhood park or ball field can be your flying site.
We have test flown all our designs in a small 50’ by 80’ intermediate school
gymnasium.
The precision cut self aligning Depron™ foam
construction produces a strong resilient, light weight, easily repaired
structure that requires minimal assembly. Typical construction time is three
to four hours. The uniform density of the foam assures that your model when
properly assembled with the recommended equipment will balance and fly
properly. All our Rough and Ready Aviation kits include everything necessary
to complete the airframe. We can also supply the electronics necessary to
get your model flying.
With the Turner Special we have completed our series of "Golden Age" air racers. We have one more racer in the works, a more contemporary Red Bull™ style design that will be available soon. Going forward we intend to develop a series of WWI and "between the wars" biplanes beginning with the Fokker D VII and followed shortly by a Nieuport 28.
Scale color schemes abound and many can be found in aviation books or on the internet and can be achieved with a combination of trim tape and latex or acrylic paints. Your plane with your own personal color scheme is sure to be a standout at any flying site.
